Job Title: Safety Coordinator

Position Type: Full-time

Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8-hour days with overtime as needed. Occasional travel required.

Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on knowledge & experience

Responsibilities:

• Safety orientation for new employees
• Coordinate & conduct hands-on safety trainings
• Frequent walk-throughs of the production facilities to ensure compliance
• Inspect equipment
• Maintain, repair, and calibrate multi-gas meters
• Assist with incident reporting & investigation
• Inspect fire extinguishers, emergency lights & AED’s monthly
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Educate employees on safety standards, expectations, and safe machine operation
• Accurately document trainings and update employee information within KPA
• Administer Hearing Conservation Program
• Lead group safety meetings
• Perform periodic lockout tagout inspections & update documentation as necessary
• Conduct energy source evaluations
• Manage safety achievements
• Coordinate & conduct AHA Heartsaver course to current employees
• Assist with clerical duties related to the Safety department
• Periodic travel to jobsites for safety audit, training, and/or incident investigation
• Other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license
• Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related computer software
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and accomplish responsibilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Become First Aid & CPR certified within first year of employment
• Become an AHA Instructor within first year of employment
• Ability to travel as needed – estimated at less than 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to speak in front of large groups
• Associate or Bachelor degree in health and safety or related field
• Bilingual in English/Spanish
