Type: Full Time

Pay: $150K – $225K/Salary Exempt

Schedule: Mon-Fri: 45 hrs per week minimum; hours may increase based on project load and timelines

Reports To: Director of Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for gathering and analyzing technical data used to prepare engineering designs for client projects including developing heat and material balances, creating PFDs and P&IDs, and sizing/preparing equipment specifications. Perform all duties while utilizing knowledge of process industry codes and standards, with personal work experience including project scheduling and managing within an engineering budget. Some travel is an integral part of this position to understand customer requirements and should be assumed to be 30%-50% of your time. The Senior Process Engineer is ultimately responsible for understanding and accomplishing the customer’s goals while protecting and promoting the interests of Custom Fabricating and Repair, Inc. in all matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

KNOWLEDGE SPHERE REQUIRED

  • Plant equipment such as:
  • Receiving and Storage
  • Fines saving, clarification, separation
  • Pasteurization, storage and bleaching
  • Cheese vats
  • Cheese belts
  • Membrane systems
  • Evaporators, crystallization
  • Dryers, powder storage and packaging
  • CIP Systems
  • Other Food and Beverage

MARKETING

  • Be constantly alert for future work with prospective clients.
  • Communicate and engage with prospective clients.
  • Understand customers’ existing plant systems.

ESTIMATING

  • Visit the site to familiarize yourself with the site conditions and scope of work.
  • Help customers understand why the proposed equipment is the right solution.
  • Review specifications and scope of work.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Take initiative and problem solve to address unforeseen challenges or opportunities for clients
  • Create bills of material in excel
  • Provide direction in the preparation of and review fabrication drawings
  • Support Operations and Management with client communication regarding project schedules
  • Maintain customer relationships
  • Assist in the preparation of and review all controls functional descriptions

PLANT OPERATIONS

  • Take initiative and problem solve to address unforeseen challenges or opportunities for clients
  • Create bills of material in excel
  • Act as Lead Process Design Engineer on a project basis; includes being a technical resource for the project team as well as directing the work of junior engineers and designers
  • Performs all aspects of Process Design Engineering (e.g. development of heat and material balances, P&IDs; and sizing and/or preparation of equipment specifications, familiarity with process industry codes and standards)
  • Provide direction in the preparation of and review fabrication drawings
  • Support Operations and Management with client communication regarding project schedules
  • Maintain customer relationships
  • Assist in the preparation of and review all controls functional descriptions

PROJECT CLOSE OUT

  • Directly responsible for system commissioning and ensuring the right resources are on-site

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Responsible for Plan Development, scheduling Process Design activities and resources
  • Ensure the proposed solutions are correct for the customer and assist in startup, commissioning, service and training
  • Act as Lead Process Design Engineer on a project basis; includes being a technical resource for the project team as well as directing the work of junior engineers and designers
  • Performs all aspects of Process Design Engineering (e.g. development of heat and material balances, P&IDs; and sizing and/or preparation of equipment specifications, familiarity with process industry codes and standards)
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers and clients
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly
  • Survey existing plants/equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years working as a Process Design Engineer within the dairy, food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with project scheduling and managing engineering budget
  • Understanding and knowledge of process industry codes and standards
  • Knowledge of process safety management codes
